short story

Esperanza Rising tells the growing-up story of the young and spoiled Mexican girl, Esperanza Ortega. She happily lives on her wealthy family's estate in the Mexican state of Aguascalientes, surrounded by fancy dresses and servants. But due to family jealousy, her father is murdered, her home is burned to the ground and she and her mother have two options: her mother marries Esperanza's devious uncle, Tío Luis and Esperanza gets sent to a boarding school in another city, or they escape to the United States. They choose to flee to California to live as migrant workers on a labour camp. Here Esperanza has a difficult time confronting the reality that she is no longer rich, and has a hard time adjusting to the difficult work in the camps.

Esperanza Rising shows self expression because it tells her life. Another reason is she talked about a rose and said their is no rose without thorn.That meant there is no life without mistakes.

Tom and Jerry is a series of theatrical short subjects (cartoons) created by William Hanna and Joseph Barbera.For Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer that centered on a never-ending rivalry between a housecat (Tom) and a mouse (Jerry) whose chases and battles often involved comic violence. Rashad (Harris) is a teen living in Atlanta with his Uncle George (Williamson) and his little brother Ant (Ross). He and his brother have been raised by George since their parents died in a car accident, and they work with him at the Swann Cleaning Service, the family's business which George took over when Rashad's parents passed. When not working or finishing his last year of high school, Rashad spends most of his time with his friends Brooklyn (Albert Daniels), Teddy (Jason Weaver), and Esquire (Long). Rashad is a talented artist but doesn't see much of a future in that field as he's become accustomed to working the family business. Esquire, Rashad's best friend, goes to a prep school on the opposite side of town from where they live, and is trying to attend an Ivy League college after senior year. However, he finds out that he'll need a letter of recommendation from someone in a high position to have a good chance of getting into the school he wants.

Pelzer's mother, Catherine Roerva, was, he writes in this ghastly, fascinating memoir, a devoted den mother to the Cub Scouts in her care, and somewhat nurturant to her children--but not to David, whom she referred to as "an It." This book is a brief, horrifying account of the bizarre tortures she inflicted on him, told from the point of view of the author as a young boy being starved, stabbed, smashed face-first into mirrors, forced to eat the contents of his sibling's diapers and a spoonful of ammonia, and burned over a gas stove by a maniacal, alcoholic mom. Sometimes she claimed he had violated some rule--no walking on the grass at school!--but mostly it was pure sadism. Inexplicably, his father didn't protect him; only an alert schoolteacher saved David.
